Positive Birth Stories
One of the BEST things for me in preparing for birth was to read positive and real birth stories! Reading about other women's positive experiences helped me get a realistic idea of what birth would be like, while also helping me believe that birth was really doable and normal! I liked being able to see uniqueness in each woman's experience, but also to find trends that the different stories had in common. One trend I found in many natural birth stories was that most women hit a point in labor where they really felt overwhelmed and the things they were feeling were really intense (they often felt they couldn't go on), but they found strength to go on and gave birth to their baby, and after their baby was born, they just felt incredible! They felt strong and amazed at what their body could do, and were so in love with their beautiful baby.
I'm really excited to share positive birth stories on this website! I have already had several people offer to share their stories! I will start posting those on this website soon! Look for them under the label "Birth Stories." (You can find the labels by opening the little side menu -it looks like a little square made of three lines at the top left of the website- and clicking on "labels.")
Until then, there is a website called www.mamabirth.com that has loads of birth stories.
Here are a few I've read recently:
